A Message From The Chairman

Myself and the trustees of the Alma Hospital Trust are frequently asked why we're working to build a hospital in Pakistan. The answer lies in the level of benefit that the hospital will bring to a community of over 100,000 people who live in the vicinity of a place called Chak 474 near Pindi Bhattian in the District of Hafizabad.

Lack of investment in, and access to, basic health care facilities in this area gives rise to some truly appalling statistics in terms of the quality and duration of people’s lives (see Where We Work).

Health statistics reflect a situation where even small accidents and minor illnesses present a threat to life. The nearest available medical facilities are a full day’s journey away by foot or cart and there are no qualified midwives. Even if people can reach a hospital in time, treatment isn't free and is frequently beyond their ability to pay.

By providing access to a local, free at the point of use, 75 bed hospital The AHT will be making a huge difference to the lives of the local population.

The hospital building was completed in March 2007 but it can't come into operation until further funds have been raised, allowing staff to be employed and the necessary equipment and medical supplies to be obtained.

All supporters of the AHT work on a voluntary basis, so every donation goes directly to getting the hospital open. Please help.
